Notice
-
You will only get about two weeks notice of an auction and sometimes much less.
- You will only get the catalogue a
few days before the auction.
- There will only be one or two days
for viewing.

You may not be able to power it up
- Check for manuals and then associate
them with the lot by talking to the Auctioneers
representative. Possibly bag them and get them tied to the lot.
- Take a torch.
Global
-
Many commercial auctions are also web auctions. You can bid on items anywhere in the
world but you have to ship them back.
- You can watch auctions on the web
after registering. You don't have to bid.
Bidding
-
Leaving a commission bid ( a maximum bid left with the auctioneer prior to the sale
day) is
safest: Maybe, it certainly stops you bidding a higher amount.
- Leaving a commission bid lets the
auctioneers know where they could get to. It's not
unknown for the opening bid to be the commission bid. Commission bids mean the
auctioneer does not drop the opening bid value until they get that first bid, they just use the
commission bid or some percentage of it. You may have missed getting a bargain, if there
are no other bidders.
- If you did not get the lot because
it did not meet the reserve speak to the auctioneers. The
auction may have adjusted the seller's mind about their reserve.
